| Midgar (1 sub-board)
The largest and most industrialized city in the world, where Shinra is based. It sits in the middle of a large plain on the eastern continent. The city is divided into eight numbered sectors. Each sector has two areas: one at ground level and one elevated section on a plate. The upper plate is supported by a main column in the center of the city and an additional support column located in each sector. The upper city is home of the wealthy, while the lower portions consist of slums and those in poverty. The city is powered by eight Mako Reactors, one in each sector.
Due to an attack on May 31st, 1997 Reactor 0 has been destroyed due to a bombing.

| Kalm
A Germanic-style town northeast of Midgar, outside the wasteland surrounding it. It is primarily populated by former workers of the nearby Mythril Mine, which is no longer in service due to the appearance of monsters in the area. As the name hints at, the town of Kalm is a quiet place with very little excitement. Years ago, there was a fire that nearly destroyed the city but there is no longer evidence of the fire since everything has been rebuilt.

| Chocobo Farm
Near the marshes that are home of the deadly Midgar Zoloms you will find a small ranch in the middle of the pasture. Passed down through the family, this Chocobo Farm is home for weary travelers looking for a way to travel faster. For a price.

| Mythril Mines
Long ago these mines were packed with workers mining away before the discovery of MAKO. Due to the appearance of monsters, these mines have been left behind and are now just a nesting grounds for the monsters. Travelers are to use caution.

| Fort Condor
A mountain-based fortress belonging to a rebel faction located on the lower east side of the eastern continent. The fort is named for the massive breed of condor that resides there. The mountain and the surrounding area have become polluted due to the use of a now-derelict mako reactor above the fortress. On top of the reactor sits a condor nest.

| Junon (1 sub-board)
Junon sits along the west coast of the eastern continent. The ocean has been polluted due to operation of the city's underwater Mako reactor. As a result, the original village of Junon (located under the upper city's airport) is inhabited mostly by impoverished citizens. The upper city is the location of Shinra's military headquarters, consisting of an air dock for the planes and the Highwind, a dock for their submarines, and the Junon Cannon.

| Western Continent |
| Costa Del Sol
Ideal vacation spot for family and friends. With beautiful beaches, crashing waves, and lovely women, this is the most popular vacation resort around. Vendors are located on the streets under the blazing sun, but don't let that dampen your spirits, if you need to get out of the sun you can visit the bar and get a fresh cool drink. The inn is located right by the beach allowing the sounds of the waves lull you to sleep at night.

| Corel
This town used to be a large mining town before Shinra put up a Mako Reactor. A few years ago, a rebel faction attacked the city and caused the reactor to explode. The town was rebuilt, however, as well as the reactor. Although it has very little to offer travelers, the Tram leading up to the Golden Saucer is located in town so they get their fair share of visitors.

| Gold Saucer
The amusement park that never sleeps. Lights, music, and fun no matter the day or the hours, this place is lively. Offering many different sources of amusement from roller coasters, gambling on Chocobo Races, arcade arena, theater, fighting arena. It has everything you need, including it's own Haunted House hotel for anyone willing to pay the fee to stay at the place. Although you may find it difficult to sleep with so much excitement going on. Just don't break any rules, and don't get in trouble, Golden Saucer has it's own prison, one that sends you out into the middle of the desert.

| Gongaga
The most backwater town you can hope to find. Located in the center of a forest, this town is attempting to put itself back together after their Mako Reactor exploded. With no help from Shinra, they are left to pick the pieces back up together. They have little to offer but their people love their town and have not given up on it yet.

| Cosmo Canyon
Dedicated to the study of the life and history of the planet. These people have very little technology available to them except for the observatory at the top of the canyon. In touch with the planet, it isn't unusual for rebel factions against Shinra to be found there to learn more about the planet, and more for their cause.

| Nibelheim
The Shinra Mansion located here was the research site for the Jenova Project, and, although since abandoned, still contains much of Professor Gast and Hojo's research. Its basement, accessible by a secret passageway, contains the laboratory and research library. Presumably after Gast left the Jenova Project, it was used by Hojo to conduct many of his immoral experiments.

| Rocket Town
Long ago Shinra had the goal to launch the first man into outer space. This town was the launch site to Shinra Rocket #26. Due to events, the launch was canceled at the last moment and the date was continually pushed back until it seemed the thought of sending someone to space was completely forgotten. The area has now forged a town around the rocket, admiringly taking the name Rocket town

| Wutai Region |
| Wutai
A country occupying a large island off the western-most continent, although the name is primarily used to refer to the only known settlement on the island. The leader of Wutai, Godo, led the city in a struggle for dominance against Shinra but lost. The city itself carries an oriental style, and they're people are easily distinguished from there's backgrounds. The
mountains overlooking the city have carvings of some of their Gods called the Da Chao.

| Fort Tamblin
Fort Tamblin is a location within the Wutai Island. It is a fortress maintained by the Wutai Army, which they used as a base to fight the forces of Shinra during the last stages of the Wutai War.

| Kaze no Sato
One of the cities unaffected by the previous war. It's located on a island to the south of Wutai in a forest.

| Northern Continent |
| Icicle Inn
This used to only be a resort for people looking for a different type of vacation; however, over the years a town has flourished around the resort. The bitter cold weather year round is not something that's easy to deal with but it leaves for great snowboarding and skiing.

| Modeoheim
Modeoheim is located slightly to the south of the Icicle Inn. It seems to have sprung up when many Shinra scientists and engineers gathered to the Modeo ravine when the site was named for mako extraction. The town seems to have not been in use for some time and is completely abandoned for unknown reasons.

| Forgotten City
Believe to be the ruins of a Cetra city. Some huts are still in tact and it there is a mystical presence that lurks within the city. Getting through the forest in Bone Village proves very difficult; however, the help of a Lunar Harp will set you straight.

| Bone Village
This town is on the south coast of the Northern Continent. It can be found in the center of the forest. The village is consisted of several tents and the primary reason for the village being there is for excavating the land.

| Out-Of-Reach |
| Mideel
Located on an island Southeast of the Eastern Continent, this village is accustomed to earthquakes and hurricanes. The village is formed in a forest in the center of the island; the highest part of the island, to protect it when the high tides come in. Although tropical storms are frequent in the area it is a wondrous place for a short vacation.

| Banora Village
Banora Village is a small town located on the same island as Mideel. It is the only location of which Banora Apples grow because of the village's rich soil. The Banora Whites seemed to have a rich taste, and held many health benefits. Due to the mysteries of the apple, it was dubbed by the people of Banora the "Silly Apple" or "Dumbapples". Banora Village also is home to the company of "Banora White Apple Juice."

| Temple of Ancients
Located on an uncivilized island in the southern region, this historical monument is proof that Ancients had existed. Although the temple is large there seems to only be a single room at the top with an alter inside. No one knows what the temple was used for, or why it existed, but even through centuries of existence, the temple remains in tact.

| North Crater
Although located on the Northern Continent, one would have to face temperatures of -30 degrees as well as climb the Great Glacier in order to reach this area. Stories across the world speculate on what had caused such a large crater. Rumor has it that the Shin-Ra company had an excavation team in there many years ago.
